Make sure you identify the TOU Times that apply (see steps 4 & 5). Otherwise all electricity will be charged at Peak rates and your calculations will be incorrect.
For bundled Time of Use bills like this, we recommend the "Simple" entry method
1. Go to the project's "Bill" Tab
Remember to specify whether your bill values include GST or not.
2. Select "Time of Use" from the Bill Type
3. Choose either the Fast or the Detailed entry method
Fast entry method (just specify the $/kWh for Peak, Shoulder, and Off-Peak)
Take care to enter $/kWh not cents per kWh (for example, if the rate is 25 cents, remember to enter this value as "0.25").
Alternative Option: Detailed entry method
- Enter the $ total on the bill for Peak and Off-Peak (and Shoulder if applicable)
- Enter the quantity of energy in total kWh for Peak and Off-Peak (and Shoulder if applicable)
- PVsell will automatically calculate the $/kWh for you
4. Click "View TOU Times" to view the times of day and days of week that are Peak, Shoulder, and Off-Peak and/or to adjust the TOU timing
4.1. TOU Timing: how can I quickly load common TOU times from my library?
PVsell comes with TOU Times pre-loaded into its library. The easiest way of adjusting the Peak/Shoulder/Off-peak timing is loading common Time of Use times from the library.
4.1.1. In the "Energy TOU Timing" window that appears, click "Load TOU"
4.1.2. Next, in the "Load TOU Timing" window, select the TOU timing item you wish to load, and click on the selected one
Locating the necessary TOU timing item
Entering the name and/or description in the respective fields, and sorting the TOU timings by the date they were last updated ("Updated At") will help you easily find the necessary TOU timing item in your library.
4.1.3. Click "Load" to load the selected item from the library
Or click "Cancel" to go back and specify the TOU times manually.
Anyway, the TOU times loaded from the library can be adjusted too. After you load the selected TOU timing item, just click "View TOU Times" again (Step 4), then manually specify the times each tariff applies.
5. Click "Done" to adopt the TOU Timing
