Unbundled bills are the most complex you'll encounter. Once you learn how to interpret them, you'll be able to quickly and confidently input an unbundled bill.
Make sure you identify the TOU Times that apply. Otherwise all electricity will be charged at Peak rates and your calculations will be incorrect.
If you need any help with unbundled bills, we encourage you to scan the bill and upload it to a support ticket, along with the project link. PVsell support staff are here to help – we want you to feel confident that you're presenting accurate figures.
1. Open the 'Bill Tab'

2. Identify whether your inputs will be GST-exclusive or GST-inclusive

3. Select the 'Unbundled' Bill Type

4. Detailed entry method
Using the 'Detailed' input method can give faster ROIs.
Because many unbundled electricity bills specify the electricy price ($/kWh) before transmission and distribution losses are applied, this can understate the benefit of solar power by ~10%, as on-site generation reduces the transmission & distribution losses.
Entering the actual amount charged and the actual volume of energy metered enables PVsell to calculate the actual benefit of solar for you.
4.1. Select the 'Detailed' entry method

4.2. Specify the Time Of Use times for the Energy component of the bill
You can click 'Set Peak/Off-Peak times: Energy' to specify TOU timing for energy charges from scratch.
Or you can click 'Load TOU' to load (and then adjust if necessary) TOU times for energy charges from your TOU times library.

4.3. Specify the Charge (in $) and Quantity (in kWh) for Peak, Shoulder, and Off-Peak Energy Charges
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the Peak Energy
- Enter in the Quantity of Peak Energy, in kWh
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the Shoulder Energy
- Enter in the Quantity of Shoulder Energy, in kWh
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the Off-Peak Energy
- Enter in the Quantity of Off-Peak Energy, in kWh
PVsell will automatically calculate the $/kWh for you.

When 'Auto populate and overwrite Network/Other quantities' is checked, the Quantities from the Peak Shoulder and Off-Peak energy section will be copied across to the corresponding Peak/Shoulder/Off-Peak Quantities in the Network section, and the sum of the three values will be copied across to the Quantities in the 'Other Charges' section. This will mean you don't have to re-enter the quantity for these inputs, saving you time.

4.4. Specify whether the Network Charges are Time of Use or DUOS/TUOS (Flat Rate)
The TOU times for the Network may differ from the TOU times for Energy.

If your network tariff is flat-rate (i.e., doesn't vary with time or quantity) then select 'DUOS & TUOS', even if it doesn't have TUOS/DUOS labels.
4.4.1.1. Select "Time of Use" for Network Charges

4.4.1.2. Specify the Time Of Use times for Network charges
You can click 'Set Peak/Off-Peak times: Network' to specify TOU timing for network charges from scratch.
Or you can click 'Load TOU' to load (and then adjust if necessary) TOU times for network charges from your TOU times library.

4.4.1.3. Specify the rates in $/kWh for Peak, Shoulder, and Off-Peak Network Charges
The quantities should already be pre-populated for you, based on your earlier inputs in the 'Energy' section.
Sometimes the quantities in the network section differ from the corresponding quantities in the energy section (typically because of different loss factors or TOU times). Be sure to review the quantities.
If you need to make specific changes to the quantities in the Network Charges or Other Charges sections, uncheck "Auto populate and overwrite Network/Other Quantities". Otherwise you risk over-writing your values, which will affect the calculated $/kWh and impact your ROI.
You may skip entering Shoulder charges if no shoulder times are defined in the TOU times.
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the Peak Network
- Enter in the Quantity of Peak Network, in kWh
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the Shoulder Network
- Enter in the Quantity of Shoulder Network, in kWh
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the Off-Peak Network
- Enter in the Quantity of Off-Peak Network, in kWh
PVsell will automatically calculate the $/kWh for you.

4.4.2.1. Select "DUOS & TUOS" for Network Charges
DUOS/TOUS network charges are a type of flat-rate network charges that are commonly encountered in Queensland bills.
The quantities should already be pre-populated for you, based on your earlier inputs in the 'Energy' section.
Sometimes the quantities in the network section differ from the corresponding quantities in the energy section (typically because of different loss factors). Be sure to review the quantities.

If your bill's Network charges are flat rate without DUOS/TUOS labels, just enter the flat rate into the DUOS area.
If you need to make specific changes to the quantities in the Network Charges or Other Charges sections, uncheck "Auto populate and overwrite Network/Other Quantities". Otherwise you risk over-writing your values, which will affect the calculated $/kWh and impact your ROI.
4.4.2.2. Specify the Charges and Quantity for DUOS and TUOS
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the DUOS
- Enter in the Quantity of DUOS in kWh
- Enter in the Charge in Dollars for the TUOS
- Enter in the Quantity of TUOS in kWh
PVsell will automatically calculate the $/kWh for you.

4.5. Specify the Charge and Quantity for Other Charges
PVsell provides labels for the most common 'other charges', described below.
Each electricity retailer has similar but different names for these charges. It doesn't really matter which input they're entered into, what matters is that every line item on the bill is represented somewhere in PVsell (to ensure the greatest accuracy and fastest ROI).
- AEMO charges (sometimes called AEMO Pool charges) – look for the word AEMO or Pool
- AEMO ancillary charges (the electricity retailer will invariably list 'ancillary' charges somewhere)
- SRES charges – for meeting the electricity retailer's SRES (Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme) liability by buying and surrendering STCs
- LRET charges – for meeting the electricity retailer's LRET (Large-scale Renewable Energy Target) liability by buying and surrendering LGCs
- Some bills will have state-specific charges (such as ESCs and VEECs). Not every bill will include all these charges

All volumetric charges will have units of $/kWh (or cents per kWh) – look out for the kWh. The Energy charges which are entered here should be in a separate section on the bill next to the Network charges (which are entered later).
You may skip entering Shoulder charges if no shoulder times are defined in the TOU times.
5.1. Select the 'Fast' entry method to enter the energy rate in dollars per kWh

5.3. Enter the Energy rate values for Peak, Shoulder, and Off-Peak
Specify the $/kWh for Peak, Shoulder, and Off-Peak in the corresponding fields.
Make sure to enter the Energy rate in dollars per kWh, not cents per kWh. (E.g., for 25 cents per kWh enter "0.25").

5.4. Specify whether the Network Charges are Time of Use or DUOS/TUOS (Flat Rate)

If your network tariff is flat-rate (i.e. doesn't vary with time or quantity) then select "DUOS & TUOS", even if it doesn't have TUOS/DUOS labels.
5.4.1.1. Select "Time of Use" for Network Charges

5.4.1.2. Specify the Time Of Use times for Network charges
