The Consumption tab is one of the most useful parts of our tool. It contributes a lot to reducing turnaround time on sales enquiries.
PVsell allows you to upload meter data, which shows the most precise customer's information. But often there are no comprehensive data at your disposal at the moment. No worries! With PVsell, nothing can stop you from selling today. In that case, you can just use the customer's trading & non-trading information.
Thus, there are two types of consumption profiles in PVsell: meter data and editable (trading/non-trading data).
Here's where you can change the type of consumption profile over to 'meter data', and vice versa (open the consumption profile editing screen and edit the profile).

Meter Data Consumption Profiles
Metering data is great for when you have interval metering data for a particular customer for an entire year - this provides the most accurate assessment possible.
Editable Consumption Profiles (Trading/Non-Trading Days)
Trading/Non-Trading Data is really helpful, if your customer doesn't have interval metering data, or if you wish to avoid the customer growing cold while they wait for their network operator to provide metering data.
This is more easy to adjust than the meter data type.
What are the differences in editing?
You can edit the trading and non-trading information directly in your browser using a spreadsheet-like interface (Web Edit), where you can edit individual data points, or copy and paste values, or even fill across or fill down!

Note that you need to edit the data for trading days separately from non-trading days.
Also note that you can:
- perform visual editing of individual data points (Visual Edit),
- or instead upload CSV data files (Overwrite with CSV).

With trading/non-trading (Editable) consumption profile type, you have the ability to make coarse adjustments by selecting the number of days per week that the business operates.

You cannot edit the meter data in the consumption profile editing screen. You can edit the information in the interval metering data file itself (csv or excel) instead, and replace the outdated version by uploading the updated meter data to the profile.
- As you enter the consumption information, you can choose to save it to your library for later re-use. How do I add a consumption profile to my library?
- What's more, we provide you with an impressive collection of consumption profiles from many industries and households. How can I load a consumption profile from my library to re-use it for a new customer?
What's on display?
If you look at the display screen, firstly you see charts of the average consumption profile for each month of the year on the left, and each weekday on the right. These charts already give you a suggestion as to what a suitable sized PV system may be.

For any consumption profile, you can also scale the data to match your customer's overall consumption as listed on their bill. For example, you may not have interval metering data for a customer but you've loaded in a trading-non/trading consumption profile for a similar customer, so you need to scale your old customer's data to match the total consumption of your new customer.
